Mission Accomplished: Skyros Island, Photo Workshop May 2018

Our recent trip to Skyros, our latest photography workshop, was, as expected, highly successful. For four days, together with eight fellow amateur photographers from every possible corner of the planet (Australia, Canada, America and Sweden), we explored and photographed this beautiful island, learned about its history and folklore, shot beautiful traditional crafts, tasted local delicacies. Photographicaly, we worked with a plethora of lighting conditions and themes, we talked about many secrets and tricks of Travel photography and Landscape photography, we proceeded to more specialized areas such as Architectural photography, Astrophotography and Animal Photography.

A dominant role in this photography workshop was played by the traditional architecture of the island as well as some of the basic folk arts found there, such as wood carving and pottery. Our photographers were inspired by the secrets of wood and sculpture, they met the last great artists of the island, learned about and happily photographed the rare race of the Skyrian horse. We’ve worked a lot in both indoor and outdoor lighting conditions. The days passed quickly. We made new friends, shared our common love for Photography, we ate, laughed, we traveled.

Now, with yet another mission, another great journey that has been completed, we returned to our base in Athens with the certainty that the people who trusted us returned to their own homes with memory cards full of amazing photographs and their hearts rich with new experiences. Stay tuned for our next mission. Inspiration is inexhaustible out there and PhotoVoyagers know that very well…
